ok here goes. i just bought a mr2 spyder, theres just something i love about the style of the gun. i have made very few mods. 1st is i chopped off the feed neck very low and added a stick loader the i made(couldnt find a longbow stick anywhere if anyones knows where i can get just the loader let me know.) 2nd a vortex rifled barrel 16 in barrel from rap4. 3rd velocity spring set from rap4. 4rd ran new air line so that my air tank well fit under my stock. i like the 88grams co2 its just the right fit.. i done these same exact mods to my a5 with the exepction of adding a faster cyclone sett up. with both guns set at the same fps why is the a5 shooting a good 30-50 ft further?
Even if the gas were bleeding off he’s set them to the same fps, I know that was the first thing I thought of too. What barrel does the a5 have? And where you using the same paint, heavier paint will go further. Also did you chrono them at the same time? If you chrono’d the a5 in the morning when the airs colder and then did the mr2 at midday the temp will have gone up and caused the a5 to shoot further, especially since I see you are using co2. And as for the longbow mag I would suggest just making something out of pvc pipe or fibreglass. I’m a very DIY sniper haha.
Anyway that’s my two cents, btw I also use a mr2 and love it
What is the a-5 barrel length? plus if your using a spring kit for your mr2 you may also need to look into changing up the internals so that you have better air flow. The a-5 internals are straight and inline and as for the spyder since its stack tubed it takes longer for the air to travel. If you get some high flow internals (shuch as the 32 degrees magnaport valve with pin or DIY) as well as a good regulator it’ll help control the air flow and allow for the ball to travel more on less air. setting the fps will be easier. I got a MR1 with alot of mods and a sw-1 (similar to the bt-4 and 98c). My mr1 also has a 16 inch riffled barrel. i find that the rifled barrel dosent help with distance just adds a bit to accuracy. if you used a low friction barrel (J&J ceramic barrel) may help with distance but not positive. If I’m wrong anywhere please someone let me know.
Just out of curiosity why do people think that with longer barrels you lose accuracy and range. I’ve tried to figure it out but I never have really understood it lol
thanks guys for the tips.the barrels are the same rap4 riflied same length. i got it figured out my a5 and spyder were chronoed the same i changed from co2 to ninja 13cu/3000 and myth regs now the are about the same. the tank cover on my a5 kept the co2 warmer so that seemed to be the problem. as for my longbow mag i made several from pvc justin just couldnt find a spring so i used rubber bands and actually its faster than my old halo with 20 round bursts. longer barrels just use “more air” according to techs but hell when you are playing sniper postions you get 20 shots a game so why does it matter. the heavier paint tip i never thought of that but after weighing different paints and running my own trail and error i notice that the lighter paints seem to be affected by the grooves more and went way off target.
another thing is i dont know how big of a difference this made but i use it in all my guns now i cleaned all the oil and washed everything internal with dawn to make sure there was 0 oil residue and living on a farm and using planters we never used oil on none of the inside gears or nothing we use a ultra fine powder graphite(available at any ag store) and it works wonders there nothing for dirty or dust to stick to and build up in you guns. just a pointer i use it and it amazed me at the difference it made. faster bolt slides. and even coat the inside of your barrel and less fiction mean greater distance. look me up on facebook and we can throw ideas off each other. Trying to get a sniper/conter sniper game up and running but the local field sucks so looking for something better. joshua brandt walker on facebook
I assume you have a longer barrel on the MR2 in which case even though they may be crono’ing at the same speed at the end of the barrel the ball may already be slowing down out of the longer barrel while still speeding up a bit out of the shorter barrel on the a-5. that’s my guess anyways

hey Josh! I posted it up at the facebook page. You could ask it over there too. Here’s the link: http://www.facebook.com/tacticalpaintballsniper
Could the gas be bleeding off somewhere when you pull the trigger?

i was wondering which paintball brand is best @ DicksSportingGoods, in terms of accuracy, besides ‘evil’ paint, <- too expensive
ps. OR just accurate paintballs besides First Strike rounds.
